Jean Van Oort was the first son born to Henry and Nellie (Van Iperen) on January 14, 1923. He grew up on a farm near Ashton, Iowa with his three brothers and three sisters. He remained living on the home farm after his marriage to Josephine Boender in 1952. Jean farmed until 1970 when he moved his family to Denver, Colorado. Jean worked as an electrician for a housing development in the Denver area until his retirement. He continued to do electrical work and volunteer in many capacities. He was actively involved in 1st Reformed Church in Denver and was known for his willingness to serve in many ways.
He is survived by his wife Josephine, their children: Norene and Dave Buschbach of Pasco, WA, Rev. Harlan and Pat Van Oort of Orange City, IA, Jolene and Dean Linenberger of Aurora, CO., LuAnne and Keith Vander Horst of Denver, CO, and Philip and Jennifer Van Oort also of Denver. He was the grandfather of: Mike and his wife Heidi, Steve, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Jenna, Luke and John, and great-grandfather to Acacia.. Jean also leaves two brothers; Sylvester of Oacoma, SD, Glenn of Castleton, NY, three sisters; Daloris Rensink of Hospers, IA, Dena Kuiper of Sheldon, IA, and Lois Falk of Rochester, MN, as well as many other relatives and friends, Jean is preceded in death by his parents; brother Rev. Harold Van Oort, and granddaughter Hope.
