Lucile A. was the daughter of William and Grace (Mensink) Van Peursem.
She attended rural schools and graduated with the first class to graduate from the Maurice High School in 1924. She attended Central College in Pella and became an elementary schoolteacher, teaching seventh and eighth grade in Maurice from 1928 to 1952. In 1952, she moved to Orange City, with her brother, Philip. She was a former member of the First Reformed Church of Maurice, where she belonged to the Willing Workers Society and taught Sunday School classes for many years. In Orange City, she was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church, where she belonged to Reformed Church Women’s Ministries and the Boosters’ Club.
In February of 1994, she and Philip became residents of Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, where she passed away. Lucile lovingly devoted her life to caring for her brother, Philip.
Survivors include her brother, Philip of Hull; a niece and her husband, Helen and Arthur Kalsbeek of Orange City; two nephews and their wives, Howard and Jo Van Peursem of Crystal Lake, Illinois; and David and Minerva Van Peursem of Orange City; and eight grand nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Chester.
