ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Henry B. Vander Zwaag, 78, of Orange City died Friday, March 26, 1993, at Jensen Beach, Fla.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the American Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn C emetery, Orange City.. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 7-8:30 p.m., at the VanEtten-Oolman-VanGelder Funeral Home in Orange City.
Mr. Vander Zwaag was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Orange City, the son of Benjamin H. and Kate (Van Oort) Vander Zwaag. He was raised in Middleburg. On Nov. 25, 1937, he married Etta Hilda Ter Horst at Orange City. The couple farmed at Middleburg until 1978, when they retired and moved to Orange City.
Mr. Vander Zwaag was a member of the American Reformed Church in Orange City and was an avid sportsman.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathleen Beth and her husband, James Dekker of Sioux City; a son, Dr. Benjamin Henry Vander Zwaag and his wife, Kathleen of Woodland, Calif.; five grandchildren, Krista Hilburn, Daniel and Sarah Dekker and Craig and Kari Vander Zwaag; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn Hilburn and Ashley Dekker; and a brother, Wein Vander Zwaag of Orange City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
