Henry was the son of Peter and Josie (Jonker) Vogelaar. At the age of one year, he moved with his parents to Struble, and when he was nine years old, they moved to Twin Brooks, South Dakota. Later, they returned to the Maurice vicinity, and in 1922, they moved to Carnes.
On February 3, 1927, he married Johanna Brink at Maurice. They farmed in the Maurice area. Mrs. Vogelaar passed away October 17, 1944, at Le Mars. In August of 1991, Henry moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City, and in August of 1993, he became a resident of the Heritage House, also in Orange City. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Maurice, where he served on the consistory as an elder and a deacon and was a Sunday School teacher and a catechism teacher for many years.
Survivors include his daughter, Eileen and her husband, Allen Wichers, of Maurice; three grandchildren, Vicki and her husband, James Jonker, of Orange City; Todd Wichers and his wife, Marilyn, of Morrison, Colorado; and Peggy Wichers of Maurice; and three great-grandchildren, Eric and Cody Jonker, of Orange City; and Kayla Wichers of Morrison. He is also survived by a special person, Gertrude Sjaarda and her husband, John of Sioux Center.
