HENRY P. VANDER ZWAAG
Mr. Henry Vander Zwaag, age 87, of Orange City, passed away Friday, November 21, 1997 in the Long Term Care Facility of the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
The memorial service was held on Monday, November 24, 1997, 10:00 a.m at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Steven Vander Molen and the Rev. David Sterk officiated. The Oolman Funeral Home from Orange City was in charge of arrangements.
Henry was born February 16, 1910, in rural Orange City, the son of Peter and Kate (Mantel) Vander Zwaag. He was raised at Orange City.
On January 25, 1934, he married Alvina Kleinhesselink at Alton. They farmed near Newkirk until 1980, when they retired to Orange City. Mrs. Vander Zwaag passed away December 23, 1987, in Sioux City. In 1988, Henry became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City and in 1993, he transferred to the Long Term Care Facility. He was a member of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include his three sons and their wives, Peter D. and Marvelle Vander Zwaag and Gerald and Jan Vander Zwaag, all of Orange City; and Clifford and Audrey Vander Zwaag of Englewood, Colorado; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Doornink of Hull.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter: three brothers, Bernard, Jake, and Nick; and a sister Elizabeth Kosters.
