ANDREW VERMEER
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — Andrew Vermeer, 84, of Sioux Center died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at a Sioux Falls hospital.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.rn. Saturday at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Revs. Mark DeWitt and Arnold Punt officiating. Burial will be at 10 am. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Mr. Vermeer was born April 4, 1915, near Sioux Center, the son of Richard E. and Katherine (Roos) Vermeer. He served in the Armed Forces from 1942 to 1945, during World War II, He married Charlotte Mieras on May 25, 1948. He farmed near Sioux Center. The couple moved into Sioux Center in 1982. He was employed with Farmers Coop Fertilizer Plant, traveled with Dr. Mike Daniel and drove truck for Kooiker Farms. He was a member of First Feuirmed Church, where he served as an elder, deacon and sang in the choir. He was a former board member of Northwest Iowa Farm Business Association, Sioux County Farm Bureau and Siouxland Conservation District board.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Lee and Karla of Dublin, Ohio; five daughters and their husbands, Kathy and John Koerselman of Sioux Center, Beth and Dan Kooiker of Orange City, Cindy and Les Cleveringa of Alton, Iowa, Peg and Steve Mouw of Sioux Center, and Emily and Corey Kleinhesselink of Hull, Iowa; 20 grandchildren, Craig and Todd Vermeer, Kerry Griess, Jeremy, Jill and Kim Koerselman, Bret, Brian, Braden, Sharla and Rebecca Kooiker, 1Chad, Kyle and Erin Cleveringa, Trevor, Tom, Katherine and Levi Mouw, Paden and Miles
Kleinhesselink; a brother, Ed R. of Sioux Center; and a sister, Estelle Achterhof of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen and Geneva Vermeer.
