Former Hawarden at Age Of 87

Funeral service for Walter Stanley Pocklington,87, former Hawarden resident who died at Onamia, Minn., were held at 2 o'clock on May 1 at the Peterson Johnson Funeral home there. Rev. Harold Hansen officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill cemetery.

Mr.Pocklington was born August 12, 1874 near Le Mars. He moved with his parents to Hawarden where he spent his boyhood days and grew to manhood, later marrying Laura Terrell here on March 5, 1901. To this union 11 children were born. In 1923 they moved to Milaca, Minn., and located on a farm. Two years later they went to Ronneby, Minn., and in 1946 moved to Onamia, where he resided until his death at the Miller Nursing home in Isle on April 28.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1955. Survivors are eight daughters and three sons, Mrs. John Lafferty and Mrs. Floyd Retsloff of California; Mrs. Pete Kleebank of Pennsylvania; Evelyn and Ruby Joe Pocklington, all of Onamia, Mrs. Max Silbert of Brainerd,Minn., Mrs. Ed Lewandowski and Richard Pocklington both of Minneapolis, Mrs. Ed Fulin of Milaca, Minn and Ray Pocklington of Richmond, Minn; two sisters, a brother, 43 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren
