ORANGE CITY. Iowa - Claudia Celeste Price, 89. of Orange City died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital. Memorial services will be 11 am. Tuesday at American Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Harlan Van Oort officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina. Arrangements are under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Mrs. Price was born May 7,1913, in Sutherland, Iowa, the daughter of Ernst J. and Dora (Hansen) Claussen: As a young child, her family moved to Paullina, where she was confirmed in the Lutheran church. Later, they moved to Sioux City, where she graduated from East High School and attended Morningside College. She married William Kenneth Price on June 15, 1940, in Sioux City. They lived in ClimbingHill and in Onawa, Iowa. In 1957, they mosed to Orange City, where "Ken" became the Sioux County Superintendent of Schools. She then became his administrative assistant. They retired in 1976. Mr. Price died Feb. 6, 1994, in Hartley, Iowa. In retirement, they served six summers on the staff of the YMCA of the Rockies at Estes Park, Colo. They also traveled extensively throughout the world. For the past three years, she has been a resident of Bickford cottage in Sioux City. She was a member of American Reformed Church, where she helped organize the Lunch Bunch. She also belonged to Kappa Zeta Chi Sorority, Ramblers, Womens' Club and the League of Women Voters. She was active in the Democratic Party, participated in Orange City Tulip Festi sal activities, and was involved in Peace Links. She was concerned about the environment and was an avid bridge player. Her household always had many pets.Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Penny and Dr. Paul Fee and Becky and Larry Williams, all of Sioux City: two sons, Allen and his wife, Cherri Price of Sioux Falls. Dav id Price of Fruita. Colo.: nine step-grandchildren; and 11 great step-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor "Nell" Claussen.
