ORVILLE OOLMAN
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Orville Oolman, 77, of Orange City died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Orange City Municipal Hospital. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Revs. Steven Vander Molen and David Sterk officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Orville John was born May 6, 1924, in Orange City, the son of John and Margaret (Muilenburg) Oolman. He was raised in Orange City and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On May 7, 1947, he married Arlene Yvonne Wielenga in Orange City. They lived in Orange City until 1954, when they began farming west of Orange City. In 1993, they retired into Orange City. He was a member of First Reformed Church and Pressman-Kosters American Legion Post, both in Orange City. He had served on the board of directors of the Farmers Cooperative Oil Association in Orange City. Orville thoroughly enjoyed farming and his grandchildren were very important to him. Survivors include his wife; four children, Larry Oolman and his wife, Carol, of Orange City, Bonnie Roos of North Liberty, Iowa, Pam and her husband, Ron Smith, of Hudsonville, Mich., and Randy Oolman and his wife, Brenda, of Orange City; his mother, Margaret Van't Hof of Orange City; 10 grandchildren, Chad and Lori Oolman, Jake, Ben, Charlie, Tony and Pete Roos, Jordan Smith, Cody Anderson and Zachary Oolman; a brother, Stanley Oolman of Paullina, Iowa; and a stepbrother, Ronald Van't Hof of Hospers, Iowa. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Roos; and a brother, Glenn Oolman.
