Glenn McCrory is Victim of Farm Accident
Funeral services for Glenn Emil McCrory, 54, who was killed at his farm seven miles northwest of Ireton when he became entangled in the power take-off of a tractor while operating a cornpicker Wednesday afternoon, were held at l:30 Saturday at the Satterlee Funeral home and at 2 o'clock at the Ireton Methodist Church. Rev. Fritz Springis officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton.
Casket bearers were Robert Fritz, Earl Bogen, Earl Schlumbohm, Darrel Liston, Dick Bonnema and Arthur Kluter. Mrs. A. W. Bartlett was the organist and Clifford Thomas the soloist.
Mr. McCrory was born March 19, l908 on the family farm in Eagle Township near Hawarden. At the age of 8, Glenn moved with his family to Ireton where he graduated from high school in l926.
He attended Iowa State College after which he worked for the Iowa state highway commission for nine and one-half years until he began farming the home place in l936.
He married Miss Lillian Bernice Wills June 21, l934 at the Little Brown Church at Nassau, Iowa.
Mr. McCrory was a member of the Methodist church in Ireton. He was active in local and county affairs, serving 24 years on the election board of Eagle township and on the Sioux County fair board a number of years. He served as leader for the local boys 4-H club and was on the Eagle township A. S. C. Committee. He was also a member of the School board in Eagle township and had held several offices in the Ireton Methodist church.
Survivors include the widow, Lillian Bernice; two sons, Charles Robert, a student at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion and Lynn Emil, at home; his mnother, Mrs. Marie McCrory of LeMars; four sisters, Mrs. S.P. Marshall (Blanche) of El Cajon, Calif., Mrs. W. R. Hammans (Jeannette) and Mrs. E. H. Atwood (Clara) both of LeMars,and Carrie McCrory of Quarter, Calif.
