Ulysses Ashmore Dies At Age 81
Funeral services for Ulysses R.(Eck) Ashmore, Jr., 81, uncle of Mrs. Laurence Dagle and Mrs. Elmer Younie of Hawarden, were held Monday afternoon in Granite Fall, Minn., with burial there.
Mr. Ashmore was born February 17, l881 in Union County, South Dakota, the youngest son of Ulysses R. and Frances Newton Ashmore. The family later moved to a farm near Vermillion.
On August 11, l90l, he married Nona B. Donaho of Vermillion where they resided on a farm 14 years until moving to Granite Falls, Minn., in l9l5.
They lived in that vicinity until l945 when they moved to Graceville, Minn., where they resided until her death in l948. He returned to Granite Falls where he had since made his home.
After suffering a stroke a year and a half ago. Mr. Ashmore had been cared for in the Granite Manor where he died November 3 from a cerebral hemorrhage.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. C. C. Jones of Long Beach, Calif; two sons, Earl B. Ashmore of Corpus Christi, Texas and Russell W. Ashmore of Minneapolis; a sister Mrs. Edith Hilton of Granite Falls, and a number of grandchildren.
