MRS. GEORGE DEGROOT
Mrs. George DeGroot, 78, died Wednesday, May 10, 1967 at her farm home near Maurice after suffering a heart attack.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p. rn. Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The Rev. Martin Hoekman officiated and burial was in the cemetery at Ireton, under direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home of Orange City.
Mrs. DeGroot, the former Eva Henrietta Mensink, was born Feb. 19, 1889, attended public school at Maurice and Western Union College at LeMars, Iowa, and was graduated in 1912 from Highland Park College in Des Moines. She taught for several years in rural schools in the county and in the public school at Maurice. She was married to Mr. DeGroot April 27, 1918, at Rockford, Ill., and they farmed near Maurice until retiring several years ago.
Survivors include the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Forrest Reed of Kansas City, Kan., and two grandchildren.
