Henry J. Ranschau, 90, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 3, 1996, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. South Dakota.

Services were held on Tuesday, August 6, 1996, at Peace Lutheran Church, rural Sioux Center, the Reverend Henry Flessner officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Ranschau was born August 1, 1906, south of Rock Valley, the son of John and Johanna (Lahn) Ranschau.

He married Lena Baatz on January 14, 1937, in Canton, South Dakota, and the couple farmed southwest of Rock Valley. She died December 26, 1972. He married Janet Vande Vegte October 19, 1979, at Peace Lutheran Church, south of Rock Valley, and they made their home in Rock Valley.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Billie and his wife, Della, Larry and Dale and his wife, Donna, all of Rock Valley; two daughters and their husbands; Shirley and Walter Moore of Rock Valley, and Carol and Orville Rehder of Hawarden, Iowa; a stepson and his wife Henry A. and Dorothy Bartman of Scottsdale, Arizona; a stepdaughter and her husband, Clarine and Tom Stansbury of Long Beach, California; two sisters, Alma Perry of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Emma Baatz of Inwood; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.
