Mrs. Mikes Baatz passed away at her home west of Rock Valley last Thursday morning, March 3, at 6:30 o’clock. Although she had not been good health for some time past, her condition was not considered dangerous, and her sudden death is a great shock to her bereaved husband and children, who have the sympathy of many friends here in their great sorrow.

The subject of this sketch was born at Edisheim, Germany, April 17, 1875, where she lived until she was eleven years old when she came with her parents to this country. The family located at Winfield, Illinois, where she grew to young womanhood.

She was united in marriage at Aurora, Illinois, February 16, 1898, with Mike Baatz. They resided in Illinois until 1908 when they moved to this vicinity where they resided at the time of her death.

Mrs. Baatz was a woman who was respected and esteemed by all who knew her. She was a kind mother, and will be greatly missed in the home by her husband and children and by her neighbors and friends as well.

She leave her husband and nine children, five brothers and three sisters. The children area are Mrs. Edward Sehr, Larchwood, ; John, Mathew, Cecelia, Joseph, Lena, William, Natalie and Albert. Funeral services were held Saturday morning from St. Mary’s Church in Rock Valley. The services were largely attended and among those from a distance who attended were: two sisters, Mrs. Matt Newhouse and Mrs. Nick Hilger, of Aurora, Illinois, three brothers, John and Theodore Streit of Aurora and Matt Streit, West Chicago, Illinois, Ms., George Bierson, a niece of West Chicago, Clara Streit of Harvard, Illinois, Christopher Streit of West Chicago, Mrs. Valentine Klein and son Matt of Aurora, Valentine Streit of Alvord, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Goldsmith of Alvord; Mr. and Mrs., John Roman, Larchwood, Mr. Emil Schulter, Larchwood, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ricsharz, Larchwood.
