Albert Baatz, 60, of Inwood, died Monday, June 11, at Rock Valley of an apparent heart attack.

Services were held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Rock Valley with The Rev. James Frank officiating. Burial was in Peace Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Albert Baatz was born November 19, 1918, in Hudson. He married Martha Ranschau May 21, 1944, in Sioux Center. They farmed near Rock Valley until 1952 when they moved to a farm near Inwood.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.,

Survivors include the widow; a son, Stan of Fremont, Nebraska; three daughter, Mrs. Al (Mavis) Habte of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Leon (Doris) Woldschmidt and Mrs. Mike (Glenda) Snyder, both of Sioux Falls.

Also, two brothers, John of Luverne and Matt of Rock Valley; a sister, Mrs. Bud (Nettie) Woods of Hudson, and four grandchildren.

Albet Baatz, a farmer who lived betwen Rock Valley and Inwood, died at about 4:15 p.m. Monday after suffering a heart attack at the golf course, Dr. S. Poommipanit said.

According to Lyle De Zeeuw, he and Mr. and Mrs. Baatz had just teed off. De Zeeuw said Baatz's first ball had gone out of bounds, and he (Baatz) was walking toward it. De Zeeuw was on the other side of the fairway, as was Mrs. Baatz.

De Zeeuw said after Mrs. Baatz took her second shot he looked over and noiticed Baatz was sitting down . He then lay down after which De Zeeuw and Mrs. Baatz ran to his side. He complained of not being able to get his breath, De Zeeuw said.

De Zeeuw immediately summoned the Rock Valley ambulance who administered emergency first aid and transported Baatz to the local hospital where he3 was dead on arrival, Dr. Poommipanit said.

No funeral arrangements were available as the Bee went to press early Tuesday morning.
