From the Alton Democrat of Mar 15, 1890
At eight o'clock Tuesday evening occurred the death of Mr. Gerrit Dingeman. The news created no great surprise to his nearest relatives as he has for several years been afflicted with a brain disease, though the immediate cause of death was internal paralysis. Deceased was in the 60th year of his age. He has been a resident of Orange City and Sioux County for a considerable length of time, being one of the original settlers who came from Pella and conlonized this county early in the seventies. He leaves a wife and two daughters who will feel the loss of a kind father and devoted husband.
(From the church record his wife was Aafje Overman. From an on-line family history, his parents were Wouter Jan Dingeman and Cornelia VanZollen. He married in 1852 in Iowa. The 1870 census of Pella Marion Co. IA Gerrit was 38 born Neth. Aafje was 36 born Neth, children were - Naatje age 14 born IA, Kate 10 born IA, Aafje age 8 born IA. In 1885 they were living in Orange City, one daughter was living with them Cornelia age 24.)
