Joe Baatz rites to be held Friday at Rock Rapids

Funeral services for Joe Baatz, 58, who was instantly killed Tuesday(March 29, 1966) while operating his tractor in the feedlot at his farm home west of Rock Rapids, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Peace Lutheran Church at Rock Raids with the Rev. Paul Lemke officiating.

Joe Baatz was born May 2, 1907, in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Mike and Abbie Baatz. He moved to Sioux county and the Rock Valley area while a young man. February 2, 1938, he was married to Meta Ranschau in Canton, South Dakota.

Survivors are the wife, Meta, one daughter, Joan, Mrs. Wallace Short, Canton, South Dakota; five sons, Jerry of Lester, Iowa; Robert of the United States Navy; Roger, Larry, and Freddie at home.

Also surviving are three brothers, Matt of Hudson, South Dakota; Willie and Albert of Inwood; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Sehr, Sherman, South Dakota, Mrs. Herbert Wood, Hawarden, Mrs. Wayne McKenny, Inwood and Mrs. Henry J. Ranschau, Rock Valley
