Funeral services will be held at Central Reformed Church here at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 8, for John Menning, 71, retired Standard Oil bulk dealer, a resident of Sioux Center since 1939, who died at a hospital in Sioux City October 4 after undergoing surgery.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Wesley Kiel and burial will be in Memory Gardens cemetery with Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Menning was born in Douglas County, South Dakota, December 24, 1903. He married Jennie Brink at Harrison, S.D., January 17, 1923. They moved to Sioux Center in 1939.

He was a bulk dealer for Standard Oil Co. for 25 years before his retirement several years ago.

Survivors include the widow, a son, Carl, of Storm Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Lorena) Brown of Rock Valley, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; a brother, Charles, of Orchard, Nebr., and four sisters, Mrs. Heyme (Susie) Cady and Mrs. Elmer (Julia) Houtkooper, both of Sioux Center, and Mrs. Art (Rena) Beukelman and Mrs. Arie (Minnie) Hoekman, both of Corsica, S.D.
