VENARD, HINTERMEISTER

James K. Venard, 22, son of Mr. & Mrs. Paul Venard of Hawarden, was killed about 2 A.M., December 29 when he was thrown from a snowmobile he was riding with a friend, Norman Peck of Hawarden, in a ditch along Highway 12 at the south edge of Hawarden.

Peck was injured in the mishap and is confined to the Veterans' Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services for Venard were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden at 11 A.M., December 30 with the Rev. Arthur Anacker officiating and burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Venard was born July 15, 1952, at Sioux City. He was a graduate of West Sioux Community High School at Hawarden and attended Eastern Iowa Community College at Muscatine.

He was married to Janice Hintermeister July 24, 1971, at Muscatine. He was employed by the Lambertson grain elevator at Hawarden.

Survivors besides his widow, and parents include a brother, Craig, of Hawarden; his paternal grandfather, Guy Venard, of Hawarden; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ed Degen of Hawarden.
