Obituary: Hawarden, Iowa- Dorothy Anderson, 69, of Hawarden, died Thursday, January 21, 2010 at her residence in Hawarden.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 3 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 4:30 p.m. at the church.
Dorothy Anderson was born August 17, 1940 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Buckendahl) Lullmann. She graduated from Truesdale High School.
She married James D. Anderson on June 16, 1962 at Storm Lake. They made their home in Hawarden and when their children got older Dorothy began working as a bookkeeper at the Hawarden Lumber Company. She later worked at Ver Hoef Chevrolet and then at Dirks Motor Company in Akron until her retirement in 2008.
Dorothy was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where she held various offices. She volunteered at the Hawarden Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop and also at the Hawarden Food Pantry. She enjoyed knitting and doing crafts and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Susan Anderson of West Des Moines, Iowa and Farrell Anderson and his wife Merry of Canton, South Dakota; daughter-in-law, Tonya Hotze and her husband Brian of Altoona, Iowa; her grandchildren, Olivia, Taylor, Elliott, Chloe, and Wyatt Anderson; a sister, Darlene Armstrong of Storm Lake, Iowa; 2 brothers in-law, Speck Anderson and wife Barb of Rock Valley, Iowa and Robert Strock of Aurelia, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Maxine Lullmann of Storm Lake, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Timmer; sister, Ruth Strock; and brother, Elmer Lullmann.
