Arlene was the daughter of Nick and Grace (Oldenkamp) Uittenbogaard. She was raised at Hospers, where she attended the Christian school.
On November 21, 1940, she married Jacob Kramer at Sheldon. They farmed at Sheldon, Newkirk and Alton. In 1968, they moved into Hospers. Jake passed away on April 19, 1987, in Hospers.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Kramer was first employed at the Armour Egg Plant in Sheldon where she cracked eggs for cake mixes. Later, she was a cook at the Hospers Christian School for eighteen years.
She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where in earlier years, she had been active in the Golden Hour Circle.
Arlene enjoyed sightseeing, dining out, and playing cards and dominos. She used to like to read, bake, garden, and dance.
Survivors include her four children, Judy, and her husband, John Solsma; Butch Kramer, and his wife, Vicki; and Fred Kramer, and his wife, Bonnie, all of Hospers; and Luann Kramer, of Jacksonville, Florida; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Jim and Kelli Solsma, Julie and Barry Van Iperen, Jared and Angela Solsma, Jantina and Jason Carney, Brian and Tammy Kramer, Becky and Mark Peek, Nic and Heidi Kramer, Joshua Kramer, Matthew Kramer, and Michael Kramer; fifteen great-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Sarah Uittenbogaard, Chris Kroon, and Dorothy Van Hees; two brothers-in-law, Herm Langstraat and Cornie Kramer, and his wife, Lucy; a special friend, Ken Cornelius; and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Dustin Kramer; three sisters, Grace Langstraat; Tena, and her husband, Louis Kroon; Margaret Klynsma Smit, and her husbands, John Klynsma and Sam Smit; a brother, William Uittenbogaard; and three brothers-in-law, George Venema; Hank Kramer, and his wife, Clara; and Ken Van Hees.
