Lloyd Thurlow was the son of Ed and Allie (Knuebel) Beimers. He attended the Orange City and Sioux Center Christian Schools. In 1951, he graduated from the Sioux Center High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball. He then served his country as a member of the United States Army.
On December 18, 1957, he married Jeannie Marilyn Vander Wilt at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers, IA. He was first employed at the Sioux Center Cooperative Creamery, and then began farming near Hospers in 1958. In 1997, they moved into Hospers.
Mr. Beimers was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where he served on the council as deacon and elder. He was also on the boards of directors of the Christian School and the Farmers Cooperative in Hospers.
He liked fishing, reading, bowling, camping, playing cards, and telling a good joke. Lloyd enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially over a good cup of coffee. He was a gentle, kind, and loving husband and father, tender-hearted and compassionate to all.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Lance and Denise Beimers of Hospers; a daughter and her husband, Lynae and John Wagenaar, of Alton; five grandchildren, Larissa and Dalton Beimers; and Nasia, Hanna, and Lyvia Wagenaar; his twin brother and his wife, Thurlow and Evelyn Beimers, of Sioux Center, his father-in-law, Ed Vander Wilt, of Orange City; a brother-in-law, Wien Vander Zwaag, of Orange City; and several nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine, and her husband, Robert Malisch; and Alvina Vander Zwaag; an infant brother, John Beimers; and his mother-in-law, Nancy Vander Wilt.
