Rubingh, Rev. John H. - 1909-1978

The Rev. John H. Rubingh, 68, Orange City, died Saturday at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services were at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday at the First Christian Reformed Church, Orange City, with the Rev. M. S. Jorritsma officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery with the Van Gelder Funeral Home in charge.

The Rev. Mr. Rubingh was born Dec. 11, 1909, in Ellsworth, Mich. He married Henrietta Miersma, Jan. 1. 1942, in Pipestone, Minn. He received his BA degree from Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1931, his bachelor of divinity degree from Westminister Seminary in Philadelphia and his master of theology degree from Union Seminary in Richmond, Va.

His first pastorate was in the Christian Reformed Church in Pipestone. He served in Wellsburg from 1943 to 1955, in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada from 1955 to 1961, in Worthington, Minn., from 1961 to 1966, and in Ireton from 1966 to 1975. He retired to Orange City in 1975. He was associate pastor of the First Christian Reformed Church here until his death.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Don of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Gerus of Worthington; a daughter, Mrs. David (Mary) DeGroot of Larchwood; six grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Henrietta DeJong of Grand Rapids.
