Cornelius "Neal" Ekdom, 74, of Ireton died Monday at an Orange City hospital.
Services were at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Ireton. The Rev. Bernard Finaardt officiated and burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home of Orange City.
Mr. Ekdom was born Aug. 21, 1903, in The Netherlands. He came to the United States and Connecticut when he was 9 years old. He moved to Sioux County as a young man and married Geretta Hofmeyer Feb. 10, 1929, in Ireton.
He farmed in the Chatworth-Hawarden area until 1933 when he became a farm implement dealer at Ireton. He was in business 18 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church and served on the Ireton Christian School Board and was a member of the Ireton Booster Club.
Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Freeman (Marjorie) Faber of Ireton; three sons, Gerald of San Diego, John of Cedar Springs, Mich., and Stanley of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; a great grandchild, and two sisters, Mrs. Gabriel (Annie) Vander Kooi of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Jane Hofwegen of Chino, Calif.
