In the death of Dr. Ida E. Peterson, who passed away Saturday morning, Hawarden lost one of her most prominent and beloved citizens She had been seriously ill for the past five months, suffering from cancer of the lungs, and death came as a relief from her long suffering.
Ida Jane Erford was born at Car_ede Penn. on January 16, 1874, and died at Hawarden, Iowa, on May 31, 1941. Her early life was spent there and later she went to Kirksville MO, where she studied and received her degree as an osteopathic physician. Later she lived at Greenview IL, where she was married to A. W. Peterson on January 24, 1900. To this union two children were born, Miss Evelyn Peterson who has been teaching at Waterloo, and Everet Peterson of Detroit MI. They came to Hawarden in 1901 and she joined with her husband in the practice of their prfession and continued to practice for a number of years until failing health required her to give up this work. She joined the Baptist church of Hawarden and was active there. Funeral services were held from the Hawarden Baptist church Monday afternoon.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, one daughter, Miss Evelyn Peterson of Hawarden, and one son Everet Peterson of Detroit MI, and his wife and their four children, five sisters and two brothers, many nieces and nephews.
