Mrs. Arthur J. Vande Steeg, 86, of Orange City, died Wednesday at the Orange City hospital of a long illness.

Services were held Saturday at the American Reformed Church, with the Rev. Calvin Rynbrant officiating. Burial was in the West Lawn Cemetery, under direction of the Van Etten Oolman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vande Steeg, the former Ruth Gunderson, was born Feb. 6, 1892, at Rolfe. She was married Aug. 7, 1917, at Rolfe. She moved to Orange City shortly after her marriage where her husband operated a general store. Mr. Vande Steeg died in October, 1955. She taught school for several years in Orange City prior to her marriage. She served as librarian at the Orange City Library for 10 years. She was a member of the American Reformed Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ralph J. (Mary Dean) Sheridan of Cincinnati, Ohio; a grandson; two sisters, Miss Naomi Gunderson of Orange City, and Mrs. Martha Boggs of Pasadena, Calif.
