Victor W. Peterson, a long time resident of Chatsworth and Hawarden, died at the Hawarden Hospital about 4:30 last Thursday afternoon from pneumonia. His death came just six days following that of his 23 year old son, Elmer Peterson, who died Dec 29th, also from pneumonia. Mr. Peterson was ill about ten days preceding his death and although he was removed to the hopsital and given every possible care, all efforts to save his life proved fruitless. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Associated chruch, conducted by Rev. T. H. Harding, and interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery beside the newly made grave of his son.
Victor W. Peterson was born at Northboro, IA, Jan 6, 1880, so lacked less then two weeks of being 56 years of age. He grew to young manhood in southwestern IA and was married on Sept, 25, 1905. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Peterson moved unot a farm near Chatsworth which they operated successfully for many years. In addition to farming operations, Mr. Peterson also operated a threshing outfit for many years. For a number of years past they have made their home in Hawarden during which time Mr. Peterson worked as a laborer.
Besides the widow, four sons and four daughters survive. The children are Leonard, Clifford, Harold, Donald, Alvira, Dorothy and Darlene of Hawarden, and Mrs. Helen Dunacheck of Sioux City. There are also three Grandchildren, besides two brothers, Peter Peterson of Blunt SD and Will Peterson of Northboro, IA. Mr. Peteson was highly esteemed by many friends and neighbors who knew him in days of prosperity was well as adversity. He was a hard worker. reliable and honorable and his death comes as a severe blow to the members of his family to who the sympathy of the entire community is extended.
