Jacob "Jake" Kumba, 63, of Rock Rapids, a past president of the Central Lyon School Board and the Lyon County Farm Bureau, died Sunday at a Luverne, Minn., hospital after an illness of 18 months.

Services were at 2 P.M., Wednesday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter Phelps officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of the Jongeward-Stapp Funeral Home.

Mr. Kumba was born May 26, 1914, in Winefred, Alberta, Canada, and married Betty Stewart on Sept. 10, 1950, in Rock Rapids. The couple farmed in Dickinson County and moved in 1960 to Lyon County where they had farmed until his death.

He was a member of the Central Lyon School Board for 12 years and was president for one term. He was an Allison Township trustee.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Joe of Rock Rapids; two brothers, Chester of Scappose, Ore., and Wilson of Bothell, Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. Ashton (Edna) Woods of Lake Park and Mrs. Carl (Regina) Olbertz of Milford.
