Hawarden-Robert Gaul, 49, a widely known Hawarden businessman, died Aug. 10 at a Hawarden hospital. He had suffered a heart attack earlier in the day while golfing.

Services were held at 1:30 P.M., Aug. 18 in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

There was a prayer service at 8 P.M., Aug. 12 at the Dow Funeral Home.

Mr. Gaul was born on May 30, 1927 at Granville and moved to Hawarden with his family in 1937. He married Audrey Anderson Jan. 28, 1951 at Alcester, S.D.

He owned and operated the Furniture Mart for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was active in the Hawarden Chamber of Commerce and the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Kathleen) Huitink of Des Moines, Mrs. Gary (Karen) Marshall of Vermillion, S.D., and Miss Connie of Hawarden; a son, Steve of Hawarden; his mother, Mrs. Fred Gaul of Hawarden; four brothers, Raymond of Titonka; Milo of St. Paul, Minn.; Charles of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Jim of Sergeant Bluff; three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Penny) Andriesen and Mrs. LeRoy (Lois) Herren, both of Hawarden, and Mrs. Perry (Bunny) Bader of Omaha, Neb., and one grandson.
