SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — Ethel Kathryn Bonnema, 84, of Sioux Center, IA., died Saturday, March 4, 1995 at a Sioux City hospital.
Family services will be 12:30 p.m today at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Ia., with burial in Sherman Township Cemetery in Maurice. A memorial service will be 2 p.m today at the First Reformed Church with the
Rev. Mark De Witt officiating. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bonnema was born Nov. 18, 1910, at Hospers, the daughter of William J. and Nellie (De Boer) Vander Haar. She married John P Bonnema March 13, 1933, in Steen, Minn. The couple lived in Steen until 1943 when they moved to Sioux
Center. She worked as a custodian at the Sioux Center Community Schools. In recent years, she serve as a foster grandparent.
Mrs. Bonnema was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was member of Mary’s Circle.
Survivors include three sons Norman and his wife, Lorna of Storm Lake, Merle and his wife Karen of Bellflower, Calif., and Gene of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two daughters, Marlys and her husband Henry Van Aartsen of Orange City
and Phyllis and her husband, John De Kriek of Cerritos, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grand children, and three sisters, August Doorenbos of Orange City, Ruth Berghorst of Ripon, Calif., an Esther Nyenhuis of Artesia, Calif.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Edna and Verna.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Bible League.
