Cornelia, who was known as "Kelly", was the daughter of Bert and Jenny (Mouw) Leusink. She was raised in the Springfleld, South Dakota, area.
On June 16, 1932, she married Cornelius Van Batavia at Hull. They farmed northeast of Hull until 1984, when they retired into Hull. Mr. Van Batavia passed away February 7, 1990, at Rock Valley. In May of 1995. Mrs.. Batavia became a resident of the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, IA
She was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she had participated in Reformed Church Womens Ministries. She also served as a foster grandparent at Hope Haven in Rock Valley, IA.
Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands. Theodora and Dick
Schelling. of Sioux Center; and Sharon and Robert Soodsma, of Doon ; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Phyllis and Wally Dahl seng. of Lowry, Minnesota: seven grandchildren. Gloria Hyronemus, Darwin Schelling, Kurt Van Batavia, Christal Meyer, Cindy Albani, Darren Soodsma, and Justin Soodsma: fifteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter: two sisters, Margaret Wesselink, of Edgerton, Minnesota: and Geneva Vanderwood, of Wenatchee, WA: and a brother. Gilbert Leusink, of Clinton, Wisconsin.
In addition to her husband, "Case", she was preceded in death by her son. Bert Van Batavia; a grandson, Glenn Schelling; a great-great-grandaughter. Whitney Dirks: three sisters. Grace Schryvers, Pauline Risseeuw, and
Irene Vande Griend: and two brothers, Morris Leusink and Gerrit John Lensink.
