Hilda Henningsen, 103, Grundy Center, died Saturday, August 8, 1998, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital-Long Term Care in Grundy Center, of natural causes. She attained the age of 103 years, 6 months, and 7 days.
Hilda was born on January 31, 1895, on a farm south of Lincoln, the daughter of Jurgen and Anna "Duge" Wegner. The family moved to Sioux County in 1900 and farmed southeast of Hawarden. She was united in marriage to Theodore Henningsen on November 26, 1919. The couple farmed in Clay township between Beaman and Grundy Center. They retired and move Grundy Center in March of 1950. Theodore passed away in January of 1973.
Hilda was a member of the United Methodist Church of Grundy Center and the Ladies Aid of the church, former member of the Ladies Aid of the Lincoln Salem Church, The Am vets Auxiliary, the Rebekah Lodge of Beaman and he Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore, her parents; a daughter, Ruth Seeman in March of 1989; four brothers, Louis, William, Albert and Walter; three sisters, Irene Wegner, Alma Miller and Emma Groth Eilts.
Survivors include her son, Donald and wife, Betty Henningsen, of Beaman; a son-in-law, Douglas Seeman and wife, Marian of Grundy Center; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter.
