Rock Valley -- Oscar VandeVegte, 69, of Rock Valley died Saturday at a Rock Valley hospital after a lengthy illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Reformed Church, Rock Valley. The Rev. Roger Voskuil officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley, under direction of the Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley.

Mr. VandeVegte was born April 25, 1909, in Rock Valley. He married Nellie VanZee August 26, 1936, in Rock Valley. She died February 24, 1972. He married Janet VandeWeerd Bartman June 4, 1973, in Bellflower, California.

He was a farmer and livestock dealer.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Darrell of Doon; a daughter, Mrs. William (Arlyce) Daugherty of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a step-son, Henry Bartman of Mission Viejo, California; a step-daughter, Mrs. Tom (Clarene) Stansburg of Long Beach, California; two brothers, Henry of Sioux Center and Richard of Mounds, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Catherine) Bomgaars, of Rock Valley and Mrs. Ed (Frances) Van’t Hul of Hull, Iowa, three grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
