Sanborn - John Prins, Sr., 87, of Sanborn died Saturday, May 27, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gerrit (Louise) DeVries, Sanborn, after a brief illness.

Services were at the First Reformed Church. The Rev. Gerald officiated. Burial was at Roseland Cemetery under the direction of the Sanborn Funeral Home.

Mr. Prins was born June 4, 1890, in Sioux County. He married Henrietta Colsman on December 13, 1911, in Sioux Center. The couple lived in Sioux Center and Boyden and came to Sanborn in 1933. She died June 21, 1960., He married Jennie Vander Woude on January 2, 1961, in Sanborn. She died December 2, 1976.

Mr. Prins was a farmer and also was in the insurance business in Sanborn. He was a member of the First Reformed Church and served as a deacon, elder, and Sunday school superintendent and teacher.

Survivors include a son, Conrad of Sanborn; three daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Berdeda) Blankers of Sheldon, Mrs. DeVries and Mrs. Gerrit (Julia) Diekevers of Hospers; three step-sons, Richard Vander Woude of Arnolds Park, Sidney Vander Woude of Coralville and Jean Vander Woude of Corona, California; two step-daughters, Mrs. Jack (Jeanette) Peelen of Sheldon and Mrs. Neil (Sylvia) Beyer of Sanborn; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
