Sioux Center News, July 27, 1977
Orange City--Mrs. John De Boom, 66, of Orange City, died Thursday at her home.
Services were at l:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. John H. Rubingh officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Sioux Center under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
Mrs. De Boom, the former Gertrude Vreeman, was born Jan. l4, l9ll at Hawarden. She was married Aug. 27, l930 at Sioux Center and the couple farmed near Sioux Center until l970 when they moved to Orange City. Mrs. De Boom was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City.
Survivors include the widower; daughters, Mrs. Ivan (Christine) Van Houten of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Herlan (Betty) Schut of Orange City, and Mrs. LeRoy (Esther) Altena of Maurice; sons, Clifford of Lynden, Wash., Richard of Hawarden, Robert of Lake Jackson,Tex., and Gerrit of Hastings, Minn.; 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Wiebe (Gerdena) De Vries, Mrs. Elmer (Christine) Den Herder, Mrs. Marinus (Bertha) Rensink, Mrs. Lester (Etta) Heusinkveld, Mrs. Gordon (Ella) Den Herder and Mrs. Henry (Lenora) Heynen of Raymond, Minn., Hein of Sioux Center and William of Sheldon.
