Miss Mattie Peuse, Age 99 of Orange City, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.
There will be a memorial service on Thursday, May 29 at ll:30am at the First Reformed Church Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Perry De Groot and the Rev. David Ter Beest will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Sherman Township Cemetery, near Maurice.
Mattie was born on April l, l909, at Maurice, the daughter of John and Maggie (Roelfson) Peuse. She was raised at Maurice, where she attended elementary school.
In l946 she moved to Orange City with her father and sister, Katie. There she served as a housekeeper for many prominent families. She enjoyed her work and was excellent at it.
In l998, Miss Peuse became a resident of the Heritage House.
Survivors include a sister, Katie Van Berkum; a brother, Henry Peuse; and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Peuse, all of Orange City; and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah Den Ouden, Jennie Van Roekel, and Minnie Bras; and three brothers, William, Evert, and John Peuse.
