Nelvina Edythe was the daughter of Herman and Nellie (Den Hartog) Scholten. She was raised at Alton, where she graduated from high school. She also attended a dental hygienist school in Sioux City.
She made her home in Orange City most of her adult life. For many years, she worked at Dr. Osdoba's dental office and later she was employed at the Heritage House Nursing Home, both in Orange City.
On January 22, she became a resident of the Long Term Care Facility at the Orange City Municipal Hospital where she passed away.
Nelvina was a member of the Alton Reformed Church, where she was active in the Mary Circle. She had also been a member of the Orange City Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening and crafts.
Survivors include a sister, Jeanette Riedemann, of Orange City; a sister-in-law, Minnie Scholten, of Alton; nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, john Scholten and Gerald Scholten; three sisters, Margaret Scholten, Minnie Scholten, and Bernice Jasper; a half-brother, Simon Scholten; and three half-sisters, Anna Langstraat, Abby Geurink, and Grace De Boer.
