John Peuse, sr. passed away after a long illness at his home in Orange City Saturday, Dec 4 at 11:30 in the morning. He had reached the age of 82 years, 1 month and 4 days. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Ref. Church of Orange City with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in the Maurice Cemetery. Mr. Peuse was born in the Netherlands. At the age of 8 he came to America with is parents and three sisters settling in Wisconsin. Later the family moved to Maurice. On Dec 27, 1901 he was married to Maggie Roelfson. They were the parents of 9 children. They farmed in the vicinity of Ireton, Alton and Maurice and retired to Orange City in 1946. Mrs. Peuse preceded her husband in death in 1936 and one duaghter Sara Mrs. Ben DenOuden died in 1941. surviving are 8 children; jennie Mrs. Benjamin VanRoekel; Minnie Mrs. Harry Bras; William, Evert, Henry Peuse all of this vicinity.
