Obituary: Rock Valley, IA - Bill Rielly, 81, died unexpectedly Friday, December 25, 2009 near his home in rural Rock Valley, IA. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock Valley. Burial will be at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Father Doug Klein will officiate. Visitation will be Monday until 4 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley and continue with the family present from 6:30 – 8 p.m. and a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at St Mary’s Catholic Church.

William "Billy" Edward Rielly was born February 2, 1928 to William and Genevieve (Levens) Rielly in Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated from Rock Valley High School. Bill served in the U.S. Army in Europe following World War II. He returned and farmed the Rielly Family farm that became a Century Farm in 1987. He was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church his entire life. Bill was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Rock Valley American Legion for 57 years.

Bill is survived by brother-in-law, Frank Harrington of Omaha, NE formerly of Sioux Falls, SD; 8 nieces and nephews: Mary (Rick) McConville of West Des Moines, IA, Margaret Harrington of Los Angeles, CA, Michael (Jan McCreary) Harrington of Brisbane, Australia, Thomas (Gina) Harrington of Jefferson, IA, Emily Harrington of Denver, CO, John (Sylvia) Harrington of Waco, TX, Jane (Marty) Beerman of Omaha, NE and Charles (Cristina) Harrington of Olympia, WA; 14 great nieces and nephews; 3 great-great nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dolores Harrington.
