MRS. BERT RIKKERS PASSED AWAY TUESDAY AFTERNOON

Mrs. Bert Rikkers who has been a patient in the hospital for several months suffering with some intestinal trouble, died Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Rikkers were only married last November and much sympathy is felt for the surviving husband.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon from the First Reformed church at Rock Valley and burial will be in Hope cemetery at Hull.

MRS. GERTRUDE RIKKERS

Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Rikkers, an account of whose death was given in last week's Bee, were held in the First Reformed church in Rock Valley last Friday, Feb. 28. Rev. Stopples, of Hull spoke in the English language and Rev. Rikkers of Inwood gave an address in the Holland language. "Sometime We'll Understand" was sung by Elsie Ver Doorn, and her Sunday School class sang "My Redeemer." The remains were taken to the Hull cemetery for burial.

Gertrude Brandsma was born at Leota, Minn., March 8, 1902, and died in the hospital at Hull, February 25, 1930, aged 27 years, 11 months and 16 days. She came with her parents to this vicinity when she was four years old and had lived here until she was taken sick and was removed to the hospital at Hull where everything possible was done for her relief, but in spite of all that could be done, she continued to fail until the end came and she passed peacefully to her Redeemer.

On November 6, 1929, she was united in marriage with Bert Rikkers, who is left to mourn her untimely death. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Brandsma, of Rock Valley, and four sisters and four brothers, as follows: Mrs. Dick Vander Woude, of Sanborn, Iowa, Mrs. Bert Ver Wey, of Alvord, Iowa, Mrs. Elmer Huibergtse, of Hornick, Iowa, Miss Dorothy, of Rock Valley, Abe, of Inwood, Iowa, George, Jr., of Rock Valley, Peter and Dick at home.

The bereaved husband and parents and brothers and sisters have the sympathy of many friends in this vicinity.

Rock Valley--Mrs. Bert Rikkers passed away last Tuesday morning after an illness of several weeks with tuberculosis of the intestines. She was born March 8th, 1902 in the vicinity of Rock Valley where she grew to womanhood. She was a member of the First Reformed church and taught a class of young ladies in the Sunday school up to the time of her marriage to Bert Rikkers on November 6, 1929. She was a young lady of pleasing manner and good character and was loved by a large circle of friends. She leaves to mourn her husband, Bert Rikkers, of Hull, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Brandsma of Rock Valley and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the 1st. Ref. church, conducted by Rev. Stopples, pastor of the American Reformed church of Hull and Rev. Rikkers of the First Ref. church of Inwood. Interment took place in Hope cemetery at Hull. Many beautiful floral offerings decked the bier. The family have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends.
