This story was taken from page 361 of the Ireton Centennial Book (1882-1982). The story was transcribed for this BIOS by Beth De Leeuw of the Greater Sioux County Genealogical Society. Some research notes were added.
Lincoln Abraham Bailey was born Mar. 4, 1861 at LaPorte City, IA. and married Elizabeth Decker, who was born Feb. 9, 1865 at Pittsburg, Pa. on Jan. 9, 1881.
Their children were: Albert, born Dec. 1881 and died Aug. 20, 1922; John, born Jan. 1886 and died Feb. 1925; Verne born in 1892 at Ireton and died in 1894 at Ireton; Harold “Billy” was born Apr. 1898 and died Aug. 1979 in Sioux City; Bernice born Mar. 1902 married William Vliek and now lives in Sioux City.
“Link” as he was called, farmed a while, ran threshing machines and did carpenter work after moving to Ireton. “Link” died Dec. 1947 at Sioux City and Elizabeth died June 1946 in Sioux City after having celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Lincoln Abraham Bailey was born 4 Mar 1861 Black Hawk County, Iowa died 22 Dec 1947 Sioux City IA. His parents were John Moffitt Bailey 1832-1914 and Emily Jane Stoddard 1835-1925 He married 9 Jan 1881 at Plymouth Gordo Iowa to Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ Kidson Decker.
Elizabeth ‘Lizzie' A. Kidson Decker was born 9 Feb 1865 Pittsburg Allegheny, PA. And died 3 Jun 1946 at Sioux City Iowa. She was the daughter of Isaac Decker 1839-1870 and Sarah Decker 1843-1946.
1. Albert Edward Bailey born 21 Dec 1881 Ireton IA and died 20 Aug 1922 Mission Texas. He married Emma Mabel Schnell 1885-1925. They were the parents of three children Mildred Louise Bailey 1908, George Joseph Bailey 1912-1969 and Juanita ‘Netta’ Bailey 1914-1954
2. John ‘Johnny’ Lee Bailey born 14 Jan 1886 died 27 Feb 1925 Le Mars, IA. He married Nellie L. Edwards 1889-1975. Two children listed as Clebeth Leone 1908-1978 and one kept private.
3. Verne Bailey born 1 Aug1892 Ireton IA died 27 Feb 1894 Ireton Iowa The Alton Democrat of mar 3, 1894 stated that the youngest son of Lincoln Bailey died of Lung fever and measles after being sick a few days.
4. Harold Burdett ‘Billy’ Bailey born 2 Apr 1898 Ireton IA died 4 Aug 1979 Sioux city IA. His obit carried in the Hawarden Independent of Aug 9, 1979 indicated he was not married.
5 ..Bernice P. Bailey born 8 Mar 1902 died 21 Jun 1990 Sioux City, Iowa She married William John Vliek 1899-1988 and one child was listed as Leona Lee Vliek 1922.

Ireton—Funeral service were held at Ireton Wednesday afternoon for Lincoln A. Bailey, Sioux City, former resident of Ireton for 55 years. Rev. George Dunn, pastor of the First Methodist church in Sioux City, officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Ireton. Pallbearers were Fred Kluter, Frank Noon, A. W. Bartlett, Henry Braaks, C. C. Wills and Mike Tiernan. Mrs. James Brown of Ames and her sister, Mrs. George Rose, sang, "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages," accompanied by Mr., A. W. Bartlett.
Attending the service from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Vliek, their daughter and son-in-law, Mae Kidson and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Melton, Harold Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Irwin and E. A. Lindenman of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Mont Fullerton, Frank Scott and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Jones of. Hawarden.

Death of Mrs. L. A. Bailey
Mrs. L. A. Bailey of Sioux City, a former Ireton resident for 55 years, passed away Sunday from dropsy.
Funeral services were held at 1 o'-clock Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. W. V. Bell of Hawarden in charge. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Elizabeth Decker was born on February 9, 1865, at Pittsburg, Pa. In 1878, she came with her parents to Plymouth county, where she was married to Lincoln A. Bailey on January 9, 1881. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last January. Survivors are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Wm. Vliek, and a son, Harold Bailey, of Sioux City; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
