Funeral services: Friday, Aug. 19, 2016; Trinity Lutheran Church, Avoca, IA; burial was in the Graceland Cemetery, Avoca, IA

Survived by: Husband of 66 years, Clarence Holtz of Windsor, CO; daughter, Debbie (spouse, David) King of Denver, CO; son, Mike Holtz (spouse, Kim) of Windsor, CO; grandchildren, Margaret, Joseph, Thomas and Matthew; sister, Maxine (spouse, Gene) Sornsen of Avoca, IA; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Harold and Mabel (nee Havick) Davis; sister, Norma Rose

Education: attended Tennant Schools through most of her junior year in high school, when the family moved to Avoca, IA; she finished the last 3 months of her junior year and completed her senior year at Avoca School where she participated in mixed chorus, glee club, and played the saxophone in the band, was a member of the FHA, and played basketball. Years later, she attended Iowa Western College and graduated as a L.P.N. in 1971.

Marriage: Clarence George Holtz; March 15, 1950; First Lutheran Church, Avoca, AIA

Employment: farmed with her husband until moving to town in 1971; she then worked Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, IA as an LPN for 40 years until her retirement at age 70. With her husband, they owned the Botna Valley Kennels for about 10 years, and then in 1976, they bought the Parkway Café and Campground. From 1982-1988, they operated the Coffee Cup Café in Avoca, IA. They also operated the café at the Avoca Sale Barn for 10 years.

Hobbies/Interests: camping, ballroom dancing, playing cards, visiting with family and friends, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
