Military service: U. S. Army, United States Army, Sep. 1953 to Sep. 1955

Marriage: Mary A. Blum; Nov. 12, 1955; St. Boniface Catholic Church, Westphalia, IA

Employment: After their marriage in 1955, Vernon and Mary started farming in the Panama/Portsmouth, IA area for 2 years, then near Denison, IA until 1960, when they came to Atlantic to farm and run their own dairy business. In 1986, they moved to another farm south of Atlantic and he began trucking for Sorensen Feed and Grain of Cumberland, IA. He then bought his own truck and worked with Cannonball Express out of Omaha, NE. Vernon retired and moved to Allen Place in Dec. 2011.

Hobbies/Interests: Regularly volunteered his time with the Cass County Fair Grounds during fair time; loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals.
