Lucy Irene Jons was born September 21, 1907 at Baggs, Carbon, Wyoming to Peter Lee Jons and Mary Mathilda Lemoine, the third of their five children. Lucy had 4 siblings (Henry Brumm, Ralph W, Orville Glen and Leila M) and seven half-siblings (Mary, Andrew, Walter E, John Clayton, Peter Lee, Roy and Ora Kathyrn). (Lucy's father was married 3 times.)

Found in the 1910 census living at Snake River, Carbon, Wyoming: Peter Lee Jons 41, Mary Mathilda Lemoine Jons 25, Walter Jons 9, Henry Jons 5, Ralph Jons 4, Lucie I Jons 2.

Lucy married Lloyd Lever Benning in 1926 at Wyoming. The couple had 5 daughters.

Found in the 1930 census at Dry Gulch, Arapahoe, Colorado: farming: Loyd L Benning 27, Lucy I Benning 22, Mildred L Benning 3, June M Benning 1 yr 9 mos., Vera R Benning 1 month.

Found in the 1940 census at Harlan, Shelby, Iowa: Lloyd Benning 36, Lucy Benning 32, Mildred Benning 13, June Benning 12, Betty Benning 8, Francis Benning 5.

Lucy died January 24, 1986 at Oshkosh, Winnebago, Wisconsin and was buried at Cass Township Cemetery, Cass, Shelby, Iowa.
