Mildred Crouch
April 20, 1917 - December 26, 2010

Lula Mildred, daughter of George Thomas “Tommy” Doyel III and Martha Jane (Parker) Doyel, was born April 20, 1917, near Dixon in Maries County, Missouri. Mildred grew up near Botna, Iowa and attended area schools.

On February 13, 1935, Mildred was united in marriage with Virgil LeRoy Crouch at Elk Point, South Dakota. They made their home in Irwin, Iowa, and five children were born to this union. Mildred worked with her husband as the office manager for Virgil Crouch Trucking for 42 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Irwin United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service. Mildred was a homemaker and loved to bake and decorate cakes. She sewed, quilted, crocheted, embroidered and painted pictures, ceramics and china. Mildred also enjoyed the outdoors, whether she was gardening, fishing or traveling.

Mildred suffered a stroke and moved to the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in August of 2009. On Sunday, December 26, 2010, Mildred died there at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 6 days.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; son Norman David Crouch; daughter Judith Ann Perrien; grandson Richard Lee Crouch, Jr.; great granddaughter Shanna Mae Michaelsen; brothers Elmer Doyel and Leslie Doyel (Mildred).

She is survived by her husband Virgil Crouch of Irwin; children: Janet Drake (Bob) of Omaha, NE; Richard Crouch (Sharon) of Woodbridge, VA; Betty Michaelsen (Rick) of McCook, NE; 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters Thelma Mohr of Manning and Hazel Meggers of Council Bluffs; brother George Doyel of Manning; sister-in-law Leona Doyel of Newell; other relatives, many friends and neighbors.
