Elaine Christoffersen
March 12, 1924 - April 14, 2011

Elaine Ione, daughter of Peter J. and Alvina V. (Henriksen) Greve, was born March 12, 1924, at home on the farm in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended school in rural Jackson and Monroe Townships. Elaine worked as a hired girl prior to her marriage.

On October 3, 1946, Elaine was united in marriage with Kenneth R. Christoffersen at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. Three children were born to this union. The couple raised their children on the Christoffersen family farm. Elaine was a busy mother and farm wife. In 1983 they moved to Kimballton when Kenny retired from full-time farming. Elaine and Kenny traveled to many REC national conventions.

Elaine was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and volunteered in many capacities at church, including quilt making. She was a past member of The J.O. Club. Elaine avidly followed the local high school sports teams.

After Kenny died in 1999, Elaine lived in their home in Kimballton until she was hospitalized three weeks before her death. Elaine died at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the age of 87 years, 1 month and two days.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenny Christoffersen; sister Dorothy Hoogensen (Victor); and brothers Elliot Greve and wife Elaine Greve Hoffman; Everett Greve and wives Mabel and Virginia; and Harvey Greve.

She is survived by her children: Rita Hanson (Gary) of Lee’s Summit, MO; Don Christoffersen (Jill) of Kimballton; and LuAnn Meyers (Joe) of Fitchburg, WI; grandchildren Katie and Travis Christoffersen; sisters-in-law Doris Greve of Elk Horn and Ardyth Christoffersen of Greenfield; other relatives and friends.

Sunday April 17, 2011, 4:00 - 8:00 at Ohde Funeral Home, Kimballton
Elaine's family will be present at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m.

Funeral Service
Monday April 18, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Burial will follow at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, adjacent to the church.
