Employment: He grew up on a farm and like many, he learned numerous trades. Aside from farming and raising livestock, he was a butcher, trucker, beekeeper, auctioneer, and electrician. After retiring from the farm, he continued helping Arlene with the carpet business she conducted from their home, and doing motor repair.

Hobbies/Interests: Elmer enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching baseball, gardening, fishing, dancing, hunting, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also had a special love of country music; he played with bands such as Sons of the South, The Country Four, Country Friends, and others. In addition to his love of country music, he also loved telling stories and giving hugs.
