Funeral services: Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Harlan, IA; Rev. John Frost officiated. Burial was at Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville, IA.

Survived by: Sons, Craig Petersen of Madison, NE, Kevin Petersen (spouse, Rita) of Missouri Valley, IA, and Brent Petersen (spouse, Barbara) of Blair, NE; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Peter and Anna (nee Ohlinger) Leinen; 20 brothers and sisters: Constant Leinen, Sister Mary Revokata, Lena Schumacher, Peter Leinen, Nicholas Leinen, M. D. Leinen, Katie Leinen, Rose Raymond, Herman Leinen, twins Joe Leinen and Ann Rattenborg, Laura Reid, Martha Leinen, Zeno Leinen, Andrew Leinen, Francis "Red" Leinen, Eva Gubbels, Melania Leinen, Margaret Mester, and Modesta Green.

Education: attended school through the eleventh grade and then graduated one year later.

Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed at St. Mary our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Portsmouth, IA.

Marriage: Ernest "Ernie" Petersen, Oct. 14, 1939, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Harlan, IA

Employment: After high school, she worked as a waitress in a local diner in Harlan. After she was married, Clare ran the switchboard taking fire and police calls in Harlan, worked in the Dress Department at Graham’s Department Store and retired from Variety Distributors.

Hobbies/Interests: She enjoyed going fishing and attending her sons’ sporting activities when they were in school.
