Funeral services: Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, Pauley Jones Funeral Home, Harlan, IA; Pastor Ron Rasmussen officiated. Burial was at Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville, IA.

Survived by: Husband of 66 years, Raymond Petersen of Harlan, IA; son, Ron Petersen of Kimballton, IA; daughters, Beverly Cox and Marlene Wahl; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Art Maxwell (spouse, Adeline) of Harlan. IA; nieces; nephews; other family members, and many friends

Predeceased by: Parents, J. L. and Anna (nee Larson) Maxwell; son, Lamond; brother, John Maxwell; sister, Daisy Stepp.

Education: attended Center Township #1 (Shelby County) through grade 8; graduated from Harlan (IA) High School, Class of 1936

Marriage: Raymond Petersen, June 1, 1941, Omaha, NE

Employment: She received normal training in high school and became a teacher, teaching at a country school near Harlan after graduation. After she was married, Anabelle kept busy raising her family. When the children were older, she worked at Ben Franklin’s for a few years.

Hobbies/Interests: Anabelle enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She was also very interested in history and geneology and was a member of the Geneology Society and the Shelby County Historical Society, running the Society’s booth at the fair for several years. In1995, she was inducted into the Shelby County Fair Hall of Fame. Anabelle was also an active member of the Red Hat Society, Rebecca Lodge, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
