Funeral services: Thursday, April 26, 2007, United Church of Avoca, Avoca, IA; Pastor Nancy Ross-Hullinger officiated. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Avoca, IA.

Survived by: Wife of over sixty years, Avis Marie, of Walnut, IA; son, Dwight Peters (spouse, Terese) of Ames, IA; daughter, Annette Hendrickson (spouse, Randall) of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren, Jennifer and John Hendrickson; sister, Helen Kuhr of Avoca, IA; brother-in-law, LeRoy Odem of St. Donatus, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Anton and Sophie (nee Plahn) Peters; brothers, Ralph and Bernhardt; sisters, Elsa Peters and Faye Fredericksen.

Education: Graduated from Lewis (IA) High School, Class of 1939

Religious affiliation: member of the United Church of Avoca, where he served two terms as clerk of session and one term as a deacon of the church.

Military service: Lloyd served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1946 in New Guinea, the Admirality Islands and the Philippine Islands, where he received a meritorious wreath awarded under combat conditions.

Marriage: Avis Marie Odem, Dec. 1, 1946 in Atlantic, IA

Employment: After they were married, Avis and Lloyd farmed south of Walnut for 20 years. They then moved to Avoca, IA in 1965 and Lloyd went to work for the Department of Transportation; he retired in 1986.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Fred Funston American Legion Post 227 and the VFW.
